Hello class!
Here is the link to the flashcards activity I mentioned in class. https://quizlet.com/15205772/the-most-dangerous-game-vocabulary-flash-cards/ Please study the flashcards with a partner, and when you're done, you'll have a chance to practise playing the game in groups! Please do study the cards diligently, because we will be having a short quiz on The Most Dangerous game on Friday! Good luck! Ms.S Hello children! You have a book report due on the 21st of February. The report will be based on how much of your independent book you have read so far. For those of you who are confused, remember how we read independent books every Wednesday? Your book report will be based on the chapters of that book that you will have finished reading by February 16th. The general outline and format are attached here. However, please remember that you have to organize the format into paragraphs. You may not submit the report in a point form. Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy studying! Ms.S
Hello everyone,
This is an important message about university applications. The deadline for many universities is THIS MONDAY, that's the 15th of January. Please check the websites for the universities you are interested in attending. If the deadline is not this Monday, you're fine. If it is this Monday, please get your applications in RIGHT AWAY, BEFORE MONDAY. You can always send them the documents later. If you need help, please see our wonderful counsellor, Ms.Ahmad. Have a wonderful weekend! Ms.S Hello class!
Here is the link to a simple video game you can play online. To score points, you have to answer questions about points of view. Here is the link: http://ereadinggames.com/viewpoint-pilot/ I think it should work on phones, but I know it works on computers for sure. Give it a try! Happy learning, Ms.S We can't save the world, but we can try and use less paper.
We can also be more informed. Let's work together as a class to make this happen! Ms.S Hello class, For those of you who weren't here, part of this class involves a book club. I will be running it every Wednesday throughout this semester. All you have to do is pick any book you like, and read it over this semester. As you're reading it, use the discussion guide I've posted here and ask yourselves the questions provided. At the end of the semester, you and I will be having a one on one discussion about your book, and that discussion will be graded and will form part of your final score for my class. Here is a pdf of the Discussion Guide for our Book Club. If you feel like the questions are not applicable to your book, feel free to talk to me or choose another one. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy Reading! Ms.S

How does Richard Connell build suspense in ‘The Most Dangerous Game’? Explain why ‘The Lottery’ is considered an ironic short story. Analyse ‘Do not go gentle into that good night’. What kind of sonnet is it? What are some characteristics that make it stand out from other sonnets of the same genre? Explain how Shakespeare parodies or critiques Italian Sonnets in his own poem Sonnet 130. Name and explain any 5 poetic devices. Name and explain any 5 short story or novel terms. What is the difference between rhyme and rhythm? What is the difference between refrain and repetition? What are the differences between alliteration, consonance, assonance, and dissonance?
