Hello rap stars!
Here is your chance to shine! Your first poetry assignment is to write your own rap song! You can do this in pairs, individually, or in a group. I will give you time to do this on Wednesday. The assignment is due next Wednesday. Here are the guidelines: 1. There can be no swearing, inappropriate language or explicit references to inappropriate material. 2. You must show that you understand rhyme scheme. This means you will have to show examples of both internal and external rhyme in your song. There should be at least 10 examples of rhyme, 5 external, and 5 internal. 3. The song should be at least 4 verses or stanzas in length. 4. You will also have a chance to perform the song in class. If you're doing this in a group, each person can rap one verse, but you can divide the work however you see fit. 5. Since this assignment is about learning rhyme, I will also be grading you on pronunciation. 6. The topic can be anything you like. You can parody an existing song as well if you like. Please remember that all material needs to be classroom friendly. Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy rapping! Ms.S
